Tips
on Magnetic Flames
1. Make sure paint is perfectly clean and dry and waxed where
flames are to be placed. We carefully inspect Fast Flames during
packing, but re-check the backs of flames for cleanliness again.
2. Don't put Fast Flames on fresh paint work. If your vehicle
has recently been painted, check with your body or paint shop
to find out if your paint is dry or hard enough.
3. Surprise! There may be "Bondo" underneath the paint on your
fenders or doors. Fast Flames stick to metal, not plastic. To
see if Flames will stay where you want them, compare the "Pull"
of your chosen location with the "Pull" on the flat surface of
your hood, roof or deck lid. These horizontal surfaces of your
vehicle are usually free of plastic fillers. To check "Pull",
grasp Flame at front and pull it along the surface. You will be
able to tell the difference between a virgin metal surface, and
one that has plastic filler underneath. Important Note: Make sure
your vehicle surface and back of Flame are perfectly clean while
doing this test, otherwise you might scratch the paint.
4.
Don't wash your vehicle, with Flames in place. If
you use a car wash, put the Flames face down in the trunk, or
some place where they won't get damaged or vacuumed up by the
car wash folks.
5. This is Important:
When installing Flames on vehicle, make sure the leading point
on the Flame is flat on the vehicle surface. If point is curled
up, wind can get under the Flame and blow it off. You can curl
the front and rear facing tips of Flames between your thumb and
finger to make them lay flat. Don't kink the tips, gently roll
form them.
6. Purchase a "Tack Cloth" at your local auto paint supply house,
or maybe a friendly body shop will sell you one. They are cheap
(about one dollar). Each time you remove your Flames, wipe the
backs with the tack cloth. It will pick up the dirt and stuff
from the Flame back. Keep the tack cloth in a baggie in your trunk
or glove box, so it will be there when you need it.
7. If this all sounds like a lot of work, it's not really. We
just want you to enjoy your Fast Flames for a long time.
TIPS on installing Pressure Sensitive Vinyl graphics
1) Your new pressure sensitive vinyl graphics are made of
the highest quality material. With proper maintenance they
will provide years of enjoyment. Carefully follow these simple
instructions and get a friend to help, it will be easier. If
you are uncomfortable, call on a professional body shop to do the
installation. To begin, you must have a quality automotive
cleaner and if not then use a good dish soap. You need a squeegee
and soap and water in a bucket. Be sure the car is not in
the sun and the surface is cool.
If necessary, these flames can be cut to fit your car or vehicle.
The back tips of the flame should remain intact, so measure from
back to front. Cut the front, if needed, with a sharp razor,
knife or scissors.
2) Be sure your car is washed with a high quality cleaner
to remove all wax, grease and silicon. The graphics need a
clean surface to adhere properly.
3) Mix liquid dish washing soap and water in a bucket. (Do
not use alcohol based products). Apply to car surface. This
will allow you to adjust your decal and position it properly. Always
keep surface damp.
4) Place front of decal in position. With friend assisting,
peel back 1" only of the bottom mask (the sticky side) and
position on car. The 1" will allow the graphics to anchor
in place.
5) When you feel your position is correct, with a friend's
help, support decal in location you have chosen then carefully peel
back the bottom mask all the way, pressing decal to surface. Do
not remove top mask.
6) Lubricate the top mask again. Use the wet squeegee
to push out all the air bubbles or wrinkles, if any. Be gentle.
Go over graphic one or more times with wet squeegee to be
sure all water and bubbles are out before removing top mask.
7) Remove the top mask by peeling the mask off at 180 degree
angle. Always work from the front to the back. With the damp
surface you can make final adjustments as needed.
8) If bubbles remain after drying, pierce them with a pin
or needle and press down.
Should you ever want to remove graphics, use a hair dryer and heat
slowly working from front to rear, pulling graphics upwards. These
graphics will not hurt the surface of your car in any way as there
is nothing transferable. If left on for an extended period
of time, you will need to use rubbing compound to remove the outline
and then wax. Call our tool-free number if you have any questions.
Thank you again!
